Defines methods of test for evaluating the properties of interlaminar insulation coatings applied to magnetic steel sheet and strip in the range of temperatures from ambient to 800 degrees C as a basis for a type test. Covers the following properties of the material: compressibility/stacking factor; interlaminar resistance; adhesion. Includes annexes and diagrams.

This part of IEC 404, used as a guide, is primarily applicable to the evaluation of interlaminar insulation coatings applied to magnetic steel sheet and strip covered by the sections of IEC 404-8.

This guide defines methods of test for evaluating the properties of interlaminar insulation coatings applied to magnetic steel sheet and strip in the range of temperatures from ambient to 800 °C as a basis for a type test. It covers the following properties of the material:

  1. adhesion;
  2. interlaminar resistance;
  3. compressibility/stacking factor.
