La presente Norma specifica l'apparecchiatura di prova al filo incandescente e la procedura di prova comune per simulare gli effetti di sollecitazioni termiche che possono avere origine da fonti di calore, quali ad esempio elementi incandescenti o resistori sovraccaricati, per brevi periodi, al fine di valutare il pericolo di incendio mediante una tecnica di simulazione. La procedura di prova descritta è una procedura di prova comune prevista per le prove su piccola scala nelle quali un filo riscaldato elettricamente viene utilizzato come sorgente di accensione. Si tratta di una parte comune delle procedure di prova applicate ai prodotti finiti e ai materiali isolanti elettrici solidi o altri materiali combustibili.
