This Standard applies to enclosures for electrical equipment, other than lighting fixtures, intended to be used in Class II, Division 1, Groups E, F, and G hazardous locations in accordance with CSA C22.1, Canadian Electrical Code, Part I.

Preface This is the fourth edition of C22.2 No. 25, Enclosures for use in Class II, Division 1 Groups E, F, and G hazardous locations. It supersedes the previous editions published in 1966, 1950 and 1936 published under the title Enclosures for use in Class II Groups E, F and G hazardous locations. Changes to this edition include a) updating the title and scope as applying to Class II, Division 1; b) adding requirements for non-metallic enclosures; c) adding alternative dust exclusion test; d) adding metric dimensions; e) adding optional marking for Division and temperature; f) adding provisions for enclosures without threaded entries; and g) reorganization per current editorial practice. Scope 1.1 This Standard applies to enclosures for electrical equipment, other than lighting fixtures, intended to be used in Class II, Division 1, Groups E, F, and G hazardous locations in accordance with CSA C22.1, Canadian Electrical Code, Part I. 1.2 In this Standard, \"shall\" is used to express a requirement, i.e., a provision that the user is obliged to satisfy in order to comply with the standard; \"should\" is used to express a recommendation or that which is advised but not required; and \"may\" is used to express an option or that which is permissible within the limits of the Standard. Notes accompanying clauses do not include requirements or alternative requirements; the purpose of a note accompanying a clause is to separate from the text explanatory or informative material. Notes to tables and figures are considered part of the table or figure and may be written as requirements. Annexes are designated normative (mandatory) or informative (non-mandatory) to define their application.
