Specifies requirements with regard to the quality of butt welds in steel components. It describes quality classes for imperfections in electron beam welded joints on workpieces ranging from 0,5 mm to 50 mm in thickness; in laser beam welded joints on workpieces ranging from 0,5 mm to 10 mm in thickness. Since electron and laser beam welded fillet welds as well as lap joints are considered a special category, they are not dealt with in this standard.
