Der Anwendungsbereich von IEC 61326-1 gilt auch für diesen Teil der IEC 61326, jedoch ist er auf Systeme und Geräte für industrielle Anwendungen begrenzt, die innerhalb einer spezifizierten elektromagnetischen Umgebung für sicherheitsbezogene Funktionen, wie sie in IEC 61508 definiert sind, mit einem Sicherheits-Integritätslevel von SIL 1, SIL 2 oder SIL 3 vorgesehen sind.
