Dieser Teil von ISO 11269 beschreibt ein Verfahren für die Bestimmung möglicher toxischer Wirkungen von mit Boden vermischten festen oder flüssigen Chemikalien auf den Saatauflauf, frühe Wachstumsstadien und die Entwicklung einer Auswahl terrestrischer Pflanzen. Das Verfahren liefert keine Hinweise auf Schäden durch direkten Kontakt der Keimpflanze mit der Chemikalie in der Dampf- oder Flüssigphase ausserhalb des Boden-milieus. Das Verfahren ist auch für den Vergleich von Böden bekannter und unbekannter Beschaffenheit anwendbar. Hinweise, wie das Verfahren für diesen Zweck anzupassen ist, enthält Anhang B.
