Proposes requirements for the design, construction and performance of traffic signal lanterns intended to control the movement of vehicles, including bicycles, and pedestrians. Scope includes lanterns using either incandescent or light emitting diodes (LEDs) as the light source and covers both general purpose and extended range vehicular lanterns. Specific comment is requested on a number of technical aspects associated with LEDs. Proposes as a Joint Australian/New Zealand Standard.
