Proposes requirements for the effective disposal of sullage and septic tank effluent from domestic premises. Disposal may be by way of sub-surface systems, surface irrigation or collection well. These include piped trench, boxed trench, trench with self-supporting arching, evapotranspiration area or bed, absorption well and pressurized irrigation systems. Disposal areas are designed which take into account the soil permeability as determined by a percolation test or from the soil textural classification. Details are given of the percolation test, siting and sizing of the disposal area.
