Proposes guidelines for the safe use of infusion pumps and controllers. The guide is addressed to doctors, nurses, and other medical personnel responsible for the safe infusion of drugs and parenteral fluids to patients. It will also be useful for educators of hospital staff and patients. Infusion devices are used, mostly in hospitals, for the controlled administration of medications and fluids to patients. The draft Standard should be read in conjunction with AS 2500-1986, Guide to the safe use of electricity in patient care.
