Proposes a classification system for the electrodes and specifies two series which provide weld metal strengths of approximately 410 and 480 MPa in a range of grades identified by Charpy V-notch impact tests on deposited metal at specific temperatures. Technical changes from the present Standard include the addition of a new designation and optional indicator to the designation system, the revision of impact testing requirements and diffusible hydrogen levels, and the introduction of moisture absorption resistance tests. Proposed as a Joint Australian/New Zealand Standard.
