Covers nominal size 3/8, 1/2, 3/4 and 1 seamless wrought copper and copper alloy insert fittings to use with polybutylene tubing and metal crimp joint rings. Includes pressure-temperature ratings, abbreviations for end connections, size and method of designating openings of fittings, material, dimensions and tolerances, markings and tests.

DevelopmentNote
It has been MSS practice to withdraw a Standard Practice when an equivalent standard is adopted by ANSI. With the publication of ASTM F 1380, Standard Specification for Metal Insert Fittings for Polybutylene (PB) Tubing, the need for this document was fulfilled by a national standard. However, the requirements are not identical to this Standard Practice, and products that meet the requirements of ASTM 1380 may not comply in every detail with SP 103. The withdrawal of polybutylene resin from U.S market has led to the obsolescence of polybutylene piping system products.
