De administratieve procedures voor het opstellen van een bepaalde terminologienorm, voorgeschreven door internationale normalisatie organisaties, staan in de ISO/IEC Directives. Deze internationale norm behandelt niet de wijzigingen die nodig kunnen zijn, indien een internationale norm als nationale norm wordt aanvaard. Gegevens daarover staan in ISO 860.
