La présente partie de l'ISO 1179 spécifie les dimensions, les exigences de performance et les modes opératoires d'essai des éléments mâles à filetage ISO 228-1 de série lourde (série S) et de série légère (série L) avec joint élastomère (type E) qui est utilisé avec ceux-ci. Les éléments mâles de série lourde (série S) avec étanchéité de type E conformes à la présente partie de l'ISO 1179 peuvent être utilisés jusqu'à des pressions d'utilisation de 63 MPa (630 bar).
