Published by the National Precast Concrete Association Australia (NPCAA). Popular in civil and landscaping applications, glass reinforced concrete (GRC) is also suited to various architectural projects. Reinforced with alkali resistant fibres, GRC achieves a strong yet lightweight result. A range of textures and colours are available – it can even replicate existing materials. Panels can be shaped in any form and in any surface texture, with depths as thin as 10mm. Because they are lighter and easier to handle than standard precast elements, GRC panels can be manufactured in larger sizes. They are ideal for use in cladding panels for building facades, mullions, fascias, spandrels and sunhoods. The newly released second edition features topics on:- Materials for GRC- GRC manufacture- Curing- Physical Properties- Design Requirements and Procedures- Establishment and Quality control of Characteristic Strength- Contract Considerations- Handling Erection and Installation- Surface Finishes- Vibration-cast GRC.
