Bellcore's preliminary view of Operations Technology Network Element (NE) generic requirements to support inter-switch and exchange access SMDS. SMDS is a proposed high-speed, connectionless, public, packet-switched data service that will provide interconnection of Local Area Networks (LANs), host computers and workstations. Inter-switch communications among subscribers served by different SSs within a LATA-use the Inter-Switching System Interface (ISSI) defined in TA-TSV-001059. Exchange Access SMDS (XA-SMDS) defined in TA-TSV-001060, allows subscribers in different LATAs to communicate. Operations Technology requirements are presented for the domains of memory administration, maintenance and network data collection. The network traffic management domain requirement are not included
