This Sectional Specification is intended for use only in conjunction with Basic Specification EIA/TIA-455-A, Generic Specification EIA/TIA-4720000-A, and with appropriate Detail Specification(s). It covers fiber optic cables intended for use in communications systems and in other systems employing similar technologies. This Sectional Specification covers the requirements for optical cables containing multimode or single-mode optical fibers, or both, such cables may include electrical conductors. It is intended that the optical fibers meet the requirements of the EIA/TIA-472-Series Specifications. This Sectional Specification covers the requirements for optical cables that are designed for outside plant use.
