Provides Bellcore's view of the Switched Multi-megabit Data Service (SMDS) information model for the early availability offering of SMDS (including SMDS Customer Network Management). SMDS is a high-speed connectionless, public, packet-switched data service that provides interconnection of Local Area Networks (LANs), host computers and workstations. The SMDS model defines the information content and the format of the information that can be exchanged between a managing system and a managed system in support of SMDS BCC network management and Customer Network Management (CNM). Examples of managing systems and managed systems for SMDS are Operations Systems (OSs) and Switching Systems (SSs), respectively.
