A Withdrawn Standard is one, which is removed from sale, and its unique number can no longer be used. The Standard can be withdrawn and not replaced, or it can be withdrawn and replaced by a Standard with a different number.

La norma UNI CEI ISO/IEC 9646, composta da diverse parti, specifica una metodologia generale per provare la conformit dei prodotti alle specifiche OSI che quei prodotti sostengono di realizzare. Tali prove comprendono tre fasi: a) definizione delle sequenze di prove (ATS); b) approntamento degli strumenti necessari; c) processo di accertamento della conformit da parte di un laboratorio di prova. La parte 1 copre tutte tre le fasi, fornendo materiale introduttivo insieme a definizioni di termini comuni e di concetti.
