La specifica tecnica si applica alle condotte per la trasmissione di gas naturale trattato, non tossico e non corrosivo secondo la ISO 13686, nei sistemi di approvvigionamento interni. Non sono trattate le condotte relative a siti commerciali o industriali facenti parte di processi industriali localizzati in tali siti, fatte salve le condotte di fornitura e le relative attrezzature. La specifica si applica a condotte nuove ed esistenti, che iniziano dopo le stazioni di misura e finiscono al confine delle stazioni di consegna. Gli impianti di GNL non sono trattati dalla specifica tecnica.
