Withdrawn
A Withdrawn Standard is one, which is removed from sale, and its unique number can no longer be used. The Standard can be withdrawn and not replaced, or it can be withdrawn and replaced by a Standard with a different number.

La norma specifica i meccanismi di autenticazione di un ente basati su algoritmi simmetrici di criptazione. Quattro di tali meccanismi si riferiscono al caso in cui nell'autenticazione non interviene alcuna terza parte riconosciuta: due di essi servono ad autenticare un ente unilateralmente, mentre gli altri due servono alla mutua autenticazione di due enti. I rimanenti meccanismi richiedono l'intervento di una terza parte riconosciuta per stabilire una chiave segreta e comune, e servono sia all'autenticazione mutua sia a quella unilaterale.
