La cinquième partie de la présente norme spécifie les caractéristiques techniques (logiques et électro-acoustiques) nécessaires pour la compatibilité de bout en bout entre terminaux offrant le téléservice de téléphonie à 7 kHz tel qu'il est défini dans l'ETS 300 263. Cette norme vise la connexion à l'interface au débit de base, au point de référence S et T coïncidents ou au point de référence S, du Réseau numérique à intégration de services (RNIS) européen fourni par les exploitants des réseaux publics de télécommunication en Europe.
