Specifies requirements for hose and hose assemblies having a minimum rated working pressure of 1.2 MPa, for use in the welding and cutting industry.

This Standard sets out requirements for hose and hose assemblies for use in the welding, cutting and allied processes. The hose and hose assemblies have a minimum rated working pressure of 1.2 MPa for conveying acetylene, oxygen, liquefied petroleum gases (LPGs) and mixtures of methylacetylene and propadiene (MPS), nitrogen and other non-combustible inert shielding gases such as argon and carbon dioxide.NOTES:1 Appendix A gives guidelines and advice on information which should be supplied by the purchaser at the time of placing an enquiry or order.2 AS 1869 specifies hoses for LPG for transport, automotive, industrial and domestic applications.3 A hose assembly refers to a hose with fittings.4 The term 'allied processes' refers in particular to heating, brazing and metallization.5 Acetylene and LPG hoses are not interchangeable because of different compatibility requirements.
