Specifies requirements for the thickness, quality and testing of electroplated coatings of silver on metallic and non-metallic materials for decorative, protective, electrical, electronic and other general engineering applications.

This Standard specifies requirements for the thickness, quality and testing of electroplated coatings of silver on metallic and non-metallic materials for decorative, protective, electrical, electronic and other general engineering applications. It does not apply to coatings on screw threads or coatings applied to sheet, strip and wire in the unfabricated form.NOTES:1 This Standard permits the subsequent machining of silver coatings where necessary.2 Advice and recommendations on information to be supplied by the purchaser at the time of enquiry and order are contained in the purchasing guidelines set out in Appendix A.3 Typical applications for electroplated coatings of silver are given in Appendix B.
