Specifies the pre-examination qualifications and scope of examination required for the granting of certificates to welding supervisors engaged in the supervision of welders of steel structures. It provides examination syllabus and includes marking criteria and provision for re-examination, where applicable.

This Standard sets out the requirements for the granting of a certificate to a person engaged in the supervision of welding and allied processes, including gouging and flame cutting, intended to form part of steel structures constructed in accordance with AS 1554, to designs in accordance with AS 1538, AS 3990 or AS 4100, and, where appropriate, to form part of other welded structures.
