Sets out maximum recommended noise levels within occupied spaces in new vessels and offshore mobile platforms of various categories depending on their length. The functions of the different spaces are taken into account.

This Standard sets out maximum recommended noise levels within occupied spaces in new vessels and offshore mobile platforms of the categories described in Table 1. The functions of the different spaces are taken into account.NOTES:1. Some deterioration in acoustic environment may take place with the elapsing of time after the vessel enters service. This Standard does not attempt to quantify this change.2. For passenger vessels, appropriate noise levels for sleeping accommodation and other areas used by passengers should be set by the prospective owner. Such noise levels should be no higher than those laid down in this Standard for crew areas.
