In This Standard the scope of Int 325-1953 has been extended in that it now covers accessory items generally which, in recent years, have been increasingly built into masonry construction. In the specification of these products, the main consideration of this Standard is to ensure resistance to corrosion, so that the materials can be relied on to perform their intended function for the life of the building. This Standard is complementary to AS 2699, Wall ties for masonry construction.

This Standard specifies requirements for construction accessories built into masonry, including: (a) Masonry anchors, connectors and ties other than wall ties.(b) Shelf angles and their fixings. (c) Lintel bars.(d) Wall ties that transmit shear.(e) Bed joint mesh. This is light-gauge mesh or fabric laid in masonry bed joints as a tying material. It does not include structural reinforcement in the bed joints of reinforced masonry. This Standard does not cover: accessories for internal masonry; wall ties that are covered by AS 2699; and damp-proof courses and flashings that are covered by AS 2904.In addition this Standard does not cover requirements for strength or the method of its determination.
