Specifies the uniform minimum requirements for manufacturers, designers, regulatory authorities, testing laboratories and similar organizations for the safety, performance and use of jointing compounds and materials for use with threaded or flanged joints in pipes and fittings used in gas installations. These jointing compounds and materials are intended for use with natural gas, town gas, tempered liquefied petroleum gas and liquefied petroleum gas.

These requirements apply to jointing compounds and materials for use with threaded or flanged joints in pipes and fittings used in gas installations, including LPG in liquid phase, and appliances.Compliance of a jointing compound or material with these requirements does not imply that it is acceptable for use without supplemental tests in its intended application.
