Specifies the dimensional and marking requirements for commercial hexagon bolts and screws with ISO metric coarse pitch series threads in diameters from 5 mm to 64 mm inclusive, and the material requirements for steel bolts and screws of property class 4.6.

This Standard specifies the dimensional and marking requirements for commercial hexagon bolts and screws with ISO metric coarse pitch series threads in diameters from 5 mm to 64 mm inclusive, and the material requirements for steel bolts and screws of property class 4.6.NOTES:1 The range of nominal sizes included in this Standard is considered adequate for most of the applications for which this series is likely to be employed, but for the convenience of users requiring larger sizes, further information in relation to the derivation of tolerances and head dimensions for bolts and screws with thread sizes over 64 mm is provided in Appendix A and Appendix B, respectively.2 The recommended classes of nut suitable for assembly with ISO metric hexagon commercial bolts and screws are property class 5 for normal, slotted and castle nuts, and property class 04 for thin nuts. These classes are in accordance with AS 1112.3 Precision bolts or screws of property classes 4.6 and 5.8 in accordance with AS/NZS 1110 may be supplied in lieu of commercial products.4 The purchaser, when ordering or enquiring about bolts or screws complying with this Standard, should provide the supplier with all relevant details. The complete designation required is given in Clause 9.
