Volume B30.9 includes provisions that apply to slings used for load handling purposes, used in conjunction with equipment described in other volumes of the B30 Standard, except as restricted in B30.12 and B30.23. Slings fabricated from alloy steel chain, wire rope, metal mesh, polyester fiber rope, synthetic webbing, and synthetic fiber yarns in a protective cover(s) are addressed. This safety standard offers comprehensive solutions applying to the fabrication, attachment, use, inspection, testing and maintenance of this equipment used for lifting purposes. B30.9 is to be used in conjunction with equipment described in other volumes of the ASME B30 series of safety standards.
