Gives guidelines comprising: short explanations of the principles underlying the set of basic International Standards for measuring the noise emitted by equipment and machines; general information on supplementing the basic International Standards with instructions concerning the operating and installation conditions for the particular type of equipment or machine; and assistance in selecting the appropriate basic International Standard. The guidelines can be applied to the preparation of all noise test codes for any type of equipment or machine, with the exception of non-stationary equipment or moving vehicles. The guidelines apply only to test codes requiring the determination of sound power levels of noise sources; also applicable to airborne sound.
