The nomenclature of types, materials, testing and marking of rasps and files in current UK production.

This British Standard specifies requirements for materials, testing, marking and packaging for rasps and engineers’ files of the following types.

  1. Engineers’ files as follows:

    flat files;

    hand files;

    halfround files;

    round files;

    square files;

    threesquare files;

    warding files;

    knife files.

  2. Mill files as follows:

    blunt heavy mill saw files;

    mill files.

  3. Saw files as follows:

    taper saw files;

    double ended saw files;

    bandsaw taper files;

    blunt saw files;

    reaper files.

  4. Wood rasps as follows:

    cabinet rasps;

    halfround wood rasps;

    flat wood rasps;

    round wood rasps;

    horse rasps.

This specification does not cover steel files of high alloy content normally described as “high speed steel?? files.
