Specifies requirements for the testing and examination of new hydraulic lifts. Does not specify such requirements for hydraulic lifts after modernization, or for the periodic examination of hydraulic lifts. Includes a proforma for a certificate of test and examination (table 1) which covers contract data, construction, and certain aspects of performance.

This Subsection of BS5655 specifies requirements for the testing and examination of new hydraulic lifts covered by BS5655‑2:1988, before the lift is put into service.

NOTE1 Italic type is used in Table1 where there is a reference to a requirement of BS5655‑2:1988.

This Subsection does not specify such requirements for hydraulic lifts after modernization, or for the periodic examination of hydraulic lifts.

This Subsection includes a proforma for a certificate of test and examination (Table1) which covers construction, certain aspects of performance, and contract data. A requirement to provide test certificates relating to certain components of the equipment is also specified in this Subsection.

NOTE2 Guidance on testing and inspection is given in section2 of BS5655‑6.
