This Standard describes the competencies needed for work associated with electrical equipment in hazardous areas. The competencies are intended for use by anyone for explosion-protection for: 1) producing or servicing functions in a hazardous area and not directly involved in installing, maintaining or repairing explosion-protected equipment and systems; 2) installing and maintaining explosion-protected equipment and systems in the hazardous area; 3) repairing and modifying explosion-protected equipment; 4) designing and maintaining explosion-protection strategies; 5) inspecting hazardous area equipment, systems and installations.
