Specifies field test methods that serve to determine the density of soil and are based on the extraction of soil samples and the determination of mass and volume. They can be used for all types of soil in which stable trial pits can be dug. However, the applicability of the methods to soft cohesive soils and to unconsolidated non-cohesive soils ought not to be taken for granted.
