Diese Norm gilt für Bildschirmarbeitsplätze nach DIN 66233 Teil 1. Sie gilt sowohl für Arbeitsräume als auch für Raumzonen, in denen sich Bildschirmarbeitsplätze befinden. Die Festlegungen dieser Norm beziehen sich sowohl auf die Darstellung heller Zeichen auf dunklerem Untergrund, als auch auf die Darstellung von dunklen Zeichen auf hellerem Untergrund. Die Norm gilt nicht für Warten und Leitstände, CAD-Arbeitsplätze, Video-Codierplätze, Mikrofilmgeräte, LCD-Anzeigen, Oszilloskope, Fernsehmonitore, Registrierkassen mit elektrooptischen Anzeigen und Taschenrechner. Diese Norm enthält Grundsätze für die ergonomische Gestaltung des Arbeitsraumes zur Anordnung von Bildschirmarbeitsplätzen unter Berücksichtigung der Beleuchtung durch Tageslicht, der Beleuchtung mit künstlichem Licht und unter Berücksichtigung der lichtreflektierenden Flächen im Raum. Sie enthält Anforderungen an die Beleuchtung unter Berücksichtigung der visuellen Arbeit an Bildschirmarbeitsplätzen. Für spezielle Empfehlung an den Beleuchtungsplaner siehe DIN 5035 Teil 1 und Teil 2. Anmerkung: Eine Norm über planerische Grundsätze zur Beleuchtung von Räumen mit Bildschirmarbeitsplätzen ist beim FNL in Vorbereitung.
