Proposes the adoption as an Australian Standard of IEC 146-4 which specifies a definition of a complete uninterruptible power system (UPS) in terms of its performance rather than in terms of individual functions such as are covered in existing Standards. The primary function of a UPS is to ensure continuity of an alternating power source. The system may also serve to improve the quality of the power source by keeping it within certain limits. Copies of IEC 146-4 may be purchased from or viewed at any Standards Australia office.
