Proposes requirements for wrought alloy steels intended for general engineering purposes supplied either to specified chemical composition, to specified chemical composition and end-quench hardenability requirements (H series), or to specified chemical composition and mechanical properties. The steel forms covered include hot-rolled or cold-finished bars for machining, forgings, and bars, blooms, billets and slabs for forgings. A related draft (DR 94271) was sent to public comment during 1994. Because of a subsequent request from the Australian steel industry, this draft now contains the revisions of both AS 1444 and AS 2506 and includes requirements for heat treatment and mechanical properties.
