Proposes methods for the ultrasonic testing of specified areas of heat-treated ferritic steel castings that are 15 mm or greater in thickness, using A-scan presentation. Requirements are specified for three evaluation sensitivity levels, three casting zones and the sizing of discontinuities. The acceptance criteria are based on comparative responses from reference blocks containing flat bottom holes. An appendix gives guidance for the identification of discontinuities. Proposed as a Joint Australian/New Zealand Standard.
