GENERIC REQUIREMENTS FOR ESD-CONTROLLING WRIST STRAPS

Published date

01-12-2013

The use of wrist-strap assembles protects electronic devices and systems by preventing the accumulation of triboelectric or frictionally generated charges on people who handle these devices and systems. They provide a safe discharge path. This document defines the minimum generic electrostatic, mechanical and chemical requirements for wrist-strap assemblies that are used to ground people and provide protection from human-body electrostatic discharge (ESD) in static-sensitive environments. It includes the characteristics of a suitable wrist-strap assembly.
