Defines the physical and magnetic characteristics of a 12,7 mm, 18-track magnetic tape cartridge to allow interchangeability of such cartridges. It also defines the quality of the recorded signals, together with the format and recording method, therefore allowing full data interchange using magnetic tape cartridges.
