L'ISO 17224:2015 spcifie la mthode utilise pour les essais de corrosion haute temprature de matriaux mtalliques par application d'un dpt de sel, de cendres et/ou d'autres substances, en les exposant des tempratures leves dans un environnement gazeux contrl afin d'valuer leur rsistance la corrosion. Le dpt est appliqu avant l'exposition aux tempratures leves par pulvrisation, trempage ou peinture.

L'ISO 17224:2015 ne traite pas des mthodes dans lesquelles les prouvettes d'essai sont entirement ou partiellement enfouies dans des substances corrosives ou immerges dans des liquides. Ces mthodes sont traites dans l'ISO 17248 et l'ISO 17245, respectivement.
