Diese ÖNORM legt Anforderungen an Auslegung, Betrieb und Überwachung von Anlagen zur Erzeugung von Ultraviolett- Strahlung mit Quecksilber-Niederdruckstrahlern - im Folgenden UV-Anlagen genannt - zur Bestrahlung von Trinkwasser fest. Diese ÖNORM ist auf Anlagen, die zur Desinfektion von Trinkwasser mit Ultraviolett-Strahlung dienen, anzuwenden. Durch die Anwendung der in dieser ÖNORM angegebenen Bedingungen soll sichergestellt werden, dass bei der Desinfektion von Trinkwasser die Anforderungen der jeweils geltenden lebensmittelrechtlichen Bestimmungen eingehalten werden. Auf UV-Anlagen zur Desinfektion anderer Wässer als Trinkwasser kann diese ÖNORM sinngemäss angewendet werden.
