Die Norm ist eine Anleitung zur Spezifikation, zur Planung, zur Errichtung, zum Betrieb und zur Instandhaltung von in ÖVE/ÖNORM EN 61511-1 definierten sicherheitstechnischen Funktionen und des zugehörigen sicherheitstechnischen Systems. Sie ist so aufgebaut, dass jede Abschnitts- bzw. Unterabschnittsnummer der entsprechenden Abschnittsnummer des Teils 1 entspricht (mit Ausnahme der Anhänge).
