Applies the alphanumeric system of classifying the degrees of protection provided by the enclosures of machines (see AS 1939) to rotating electrical machines. The AS 1939 system is called up with two exceptions.

This Part of this standard assigns designations to the classification of types of enclosure and specifies type tests to verify the performance of the various classes.
