Sets out requirements and dimensions for a range of sleevings of circular section primarily for insulation of conductors and apparatus connections. It includes sleevings made by varnishing or coating a textile base, and those formed by extrusion of suitable insulating materials. It does not apply to pre-stretched tubing. A range of test methods is included as appendices.

This specification sets out requirements and dimensions for a range of flexible insulating sleevings of circular section, intended primarily for the insulation of electrical conductors and connections of electrical apparatus. It includes sleevings made by the varnishing or coating of a textile base, and others formed by extrusion of suitable insulating materials. This specification does not apply to pre-stretched tubing.NOTES:1. Some of the types of sleeving included are also suitable, especially in the larger sizes, for the covering and holding together of a number of conductors which are already individually insulated.2. The tests specified are designed to control the quality of the sleeving, but it is recognized that they do not completely establish the suitability of sleeving for varnish and wax impregnation processes or its suitability for use in contact with other materials. It is, therefore, recommended that appropriate impregnation or compatibility tests be agreed where necessary between the purchaser and the supplier to suit individual circumstances.
