Specifies the method for establishing and operating of an electromagnetic gauging station for the measurement of discharge in an open channel. It is technically identical with and reproduced from ISO/TR 9213:1988.

This Technical Report deals with the establishment and operation of an electromagnetic gauging station for the measurement of discharge in an open channel, or a closed conduit with a free water surface. The application of the method is restricted to sites where the magnetic field is generated by an electromagnetic coil which traverses the full channel width. This Technical Report is not applicable to discharge measurements using flow-meters which operate by using the Earth's magnetic field.
