Specifies the key technical and commercial requirements for the supply of the principal grades of ferrosilicon products used in Australia. Ferrosilicon used in the dense-medium separation method of minerals is not included.

This Standard relates to the principal grades of ferrosilicon currently used in Australia in the manufacture of iron and steel, as listed in Table 1. The Standard specifies the key technical and commercial requirements for the supply of these products. Ferrosilicon used as a medium in the dense-medium separation method of minerals beneficiation is excluded from the scope of this Standard.Sampling methods for ferroalloys, precision and bias in relation to sampling of ferroalloys, and methods of chemical analysis for selected ferroalloys, including ferrosilicon, are covered by AS 3586 Parts 1 to 4, and AS 3587 Parts 1 to 6.
