Sets out a method for calculating the rating life of rolling bearings. It applies to those systems in which the failure of any one component produces failure of the whole system.

This Standard provides a method for calculating the rating life of a system of rolling bearings. It applies to those systems in which the failure of any one component produces failure of the whole system.NOTES:1 The rating lives of component bearings, required for the methods in this Standard, would normally be estimated using the methods in AS 2729. The assumptions made in AS 2729 would then also apply here.2 To maintain consistency with AS 2729 the methods in this Standard are based on bearing revolutions, i.e. L10 lives. In somecases lives based on hours of operation, i.e. B10 lives, might be preferred and Clause 9 of this Standard shows how this can be accommodated, when required.3 Guidance on application of the analysis, and a sample calculation are given in Appendix A.
