Specifies minimum performance requirements for materials and components of automatic sliding doors and door assemblies. Information is provided on operational safety and durability for ingress and egress traffic when assembled, installed and commissioned. Doors are classified according to hourly operating cycles. Control systems are described for both normal and emergency conditions including positioning and operation of pressure mats, photo-electric and radiant energy detectors as well as detection zone dimensions. An Appendix introduces recommended operational inspection procedures and frequency.

This Standard sets out functional requirements for the materials and components of automatic sliding door assemblies and requirements for operational safety and durability when assembled, installed, and commissioned. The Standard also classifies sliding doors in accordance with a duty rating according to the expected average number of operational cycles.NOTE: Appendix A describes recommended automatic sliding door inspection and maintenance procedures.
