Specifies essential safety requirements for approval and test purposes. In Australia it is to be read in conjunction with AS 3100. In New Zealand it is to be read in conjunction with NZS 6200 for the purpose of Clause 24 of the Standard.

This Standard applies to commercial refrigerated food cabinets designed for operation at low voltage. The cabinets may either be fixed in position or be capable of being moved from place to place.The Standard applies to cabinets with a self-contained refrigerating unit and to cabinets with refrigerating units which are remote from the cabinet. It does not apply to cool-rooms of the walk-in type.For the purpose of this Standard a commercial refrigerated food cabinet is called a cabinet.
